LDCR 10 Commandments
Because getting rescued shouldn't be confusing. Here's everything that matters before you hit “Book Now.”
📍 1. Download What3Words — Before You Go
What3Words lets you send me your exact location — even if you're halfway up a hill with no road in sight.
-
Download the app before your ride
-
Open it at least once while you’ve got signal (so it works offline)
-
Save my number to your phone 07761 271551
-
Test it with a few local locations so you’re confident using it
If you can’t tell me where you are, I can’t come get you — it’s that simple.
📡 2. No Signal? No Problem (Sort Of)
If WhatsApp won’t send your message:
-
Switch to a regular SMS text
-
Send your:
-
What3Words location, or
-
Message like: “Bike Down. Last seen: Whinlatter Pass car park. Heading west.”
-
✅ Direction helps if I’m coming in the opposite way
✅ If I can’t reach you by message, I’ll keep trying, and if I feel your safety is at risk, I’ll escalate
🕒 3. Booking Deadlines — No Last-Minute Cover
-
All bookings must be made by 9 PM the night before your ride
-
Same-day bookings are not accepted
-
If you’ve already started riding and something goes wrong, you’ll need to request an Emergency Pedal Pickup instead
-
Cover cannot be purchased after the fact
I'm helpful — not daft. Fair’s fair.
🚨 4. What Happens When You Text “Rescue Me”
When you get in touch for a rescue, here’s what happens:
-
I’ll acknowledge your message quickly
-
You must provide:
-
Your What3Words location, or best known location + direction
-
Your LDCR Membership Number or Booking Reference
-
A photo of your QR code (if you've saved it) — helps verify your cover faster
-
-
I’ll confirm:
-
Your cover status (Daily, Ride or Die, Emergency)
-
Estimated time to leave base
-
Estimated time of arrival
-
A live tracking link, so you can follow me as I approach
-
-
If it’s an emergency pickup:
-
I’ll send a payment link (upfront payment required)
-
You can forward this to a friend/family member if needed
-
Once payment is received, I hit the road
-
-
📲 5. Save Your Member Info — It Speeds Everything Up
All LDCR bookings and memberships come with a unique QR code and rescue ID number.
-
✅ Save your QR code to your phone
-
✅ Save your membership number in your notes or wallet
-
✅ Quote it when you contact me — I’ll verify your cover instantly
“I’m covered under LDCR2679 — here’s my location…” = smooth sailing from the start.
🛠 6. What If Something Happens To Me?
Let’s be honest — I’m human and so is my van. Here's what I’ve got in place:
-
Van breakdown? I’ll notify you as soon as possible , I do have access to another vehicle so we can decide what will work better for you as it may take me a little longer to reach you or I can arrange a taxi or pickup, if needed ( NO EXTRA COST TO YOU). If I can’t reach you, I’ll contact emergency services only if your safety is at risk.
-
Personal emergency or illness? I won’t go radio silent. You’ll get a message from me, or my emergency contact, explaining what’s happened and offering a refund or reschedule.
I’ll never leave you guessing.
⚠️ 7. Safety First – For You and Me
-
If you feel unsafe while waiting, tell me. You can wait in a café, shop, pub, or well-lit area. I’ll still find you.
-
If I feel at risk, I reserve the right to pause or withdraw service (zero tolerance policy). This includes abuse, aggression, or threatening behaviour — no exceptions.
-
My van has GPS tracking and CCTV for both our safety. My location is shared at all times with a 3rd party and I wear a bodycam during the rescue.
-
🧍♀️ 8. Riding Partner Safety
-
Only one rider can fit in the van — so here’s how I handle it, depending on what’s booked:
-
✅ If both riders have pre-booked cover:
-
I’ll take you (the injured or stranded rider) and your bike first
-
Then I’ll return to collect your friend as a second, separate "rescue"
-
-
🚨 If your friend isn’t covered:
-
I can return and complete an emergency pickup, charged at the standard emergency rate and to be paid before I return
-
Or you can choose to:
-
Have me recover both bikes, and you and your friend arrange your own taxi — I’ll wait at my discretion while this is sorted
-
🧾 Please Note:
-
No refund will be given if I transport only bikes and no people — this still counts as a full rescue due to time, effort, and space
-
LDCR is a one-rider-one-rescue service unless told otherwise
-
🧭 9. I Might Be Out Rescuing Someone Else
-
I’m a one-woman rescue crew — so if you message me and don’t hear back instantly, don’t panic.
-
I might be on a rescue when your message comes through
-
I’ll reply as soon as I safely can
-
You’ll always get a proper ETA, tracking link, and confirmation once I’m on the move
-
🧰 10. You’re Responsible For Your Own Kit
-
I’ll always do my best to help — but please make sure you:
-
Bring your own basic tools (tube, pump, tyre levers)
-
Check your bike’s in working order before setting off
-
Carry enough food, water, and layers for the weather
-
Keep your phone charged and share your route with someone if riding solo
-
LDCR is here when the unexpected happens — not when you forgot your Allen keys.
